Four years ago on a warm summer night, Jenny and Teresa hosted their first “Open Ivory” piano Meetupat an iconic San Francisco waterfront restaurant. They had a simple idea in mind: to meet and perform with other bay area amateur pianists.
To their surprise, people of all walks of life—engineers, teachers, mothers, entrepreneurs—came with their various musical styles and backgrounds. Some were formally trained at conservatories and some were self-taught. Music and laughter filled the dimly-lit room. And as the night turned into an evening of impromptu performances, Jenny and Teresa realized that they had started something truly special.
